Two Tour Dates Postponed as Bruce Springsteen Falls Ill

Bruce Springsteen’s recent illness has caused the postponement of two scheduled shows in Philadelphia, leading to speculation about his well-being. The announcement, posted on his X/Twitter page, stated that the concerts originally planned for Wednesday and Friday nights would be rescheduled.

According to the social media account, “Due to Bruce Springsteen having been taken ill, his concerts with the E Street Band at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on August 16 and 18 have been postponed. We are working on rescheduling the dates so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled shows.”

Fortunately, Springsteen has some time to recover before the next tour dates are affected. The band’s next scheduled concerts are a little over a week away on August 24 and 26 in Foxborough, Mass.

This isn’t the first time illness has disrupted Springsteen’s tour this year. In March, three concerts were postponed and rescheduled for September due to unspecified illnesses. In April, Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa had to cancel an appearance after testing positive for COVID, although it didn’t impact any actual concerts. They were able to continue the tour without incident after a brief hiatus.

Throughout the 2023 tour, there have been instances where members of the E Street Band were absent for certain shows. Despite these challenges, Springsteen and the band have a busy schedule for the remainder of the year. They will be taking a break in October before resuming shows on the east coast and Canada in November. The tour will conclude with performances in the southwest, ending in San Francisco on December 12.
