Trump Seeks Assistance from Supreme Court

Donald Trump sought assistance from the Supreme Court on Friday, following his not guilty plea to federal felony charges. However, instead of submitting a formal filing, the former president made a request for intervention in a post on Truth Social. He reiterated his allegations that President Biden is behind his prosecution to sabotage his presidential candidacy. Trump wrote, “I am leading in all Polls, including against Crooked Joe, but this is not a level playing field. It is Election Interference, & the Supreme Court must intercede. MAGA!” (The Hill)

Trump, who is accused of interfering with the previous presidential election, had appointed three of the nine justices. However, he has not always been pleased with the court’s decisions relating to him. The Supreme Court has yet to respond to Trump’s plea, and it remains unclear what specific action he is requesting from the justices. Typically, the court only becomes involved in a case after receiving an appeal following lower court rulings. In another post, Trump expressed that he is being targeted in the court system, which makes it difficult for him to campaign. He questioned whether this is unconstitutional. (CNBC)
