Trump and 18 Co-Defendants Comply with Deadline to Turn Themselves In at Georgia Prison in Election Case – Orange County Register

Former President Donald Trump and the 18 individuals indicted alongside him in Georgia for allegedly engaging in a wide-ranging illegal scheme to overturn the 2020 election results have voluntarily turned themselves in to an Atlanta jail before the noon Friday deadline. Trump, captured scowling in his first-ever mugshot, was booked on Thursday evening, while the remaining seven defendants surrendered on Friday morning. Except for one individual, all the charged parties had negotiated a bond and conditions with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis prior to their bookings, allowing them to be released after the process. The only exception, Harrison William Prescott Floyd, who is accused of harassing a Fulton County election worker, did not prearrange a bond and has remained in jail since his surrender on Thursday. Federal court records indicate that Floyd, a former Marine and member of the group Black Voices for Trump, was also recently arrested on a federal warrant for aggressively confronting two FBI agents serving him with a grand jury subpoena. In the coming weeks, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee is expected to schedule arraignments for each defendant, during which they will make their initial court appearances and enter guilty or not guilty pleas. Though it is not uncommon in Georgia for defendants to waive arraignment.
