On June 17, King Charles III, accompanied by members of the Royal Family, participated in the traditional Trooping the Color ceremony in London. This ceremonial event is held to commemorate the official birthday of the British sovereign, as it has been for over 260 years.
It’s important to note that King Charles III’s actual birthday falls in November, but the Trooping the Color ceremony is a longstanding tradition that takes place in June. During the military-themed procession, King Charles III rode on horseback alongside his son, Prince William, his sister, Princess Anne, and his cousin, Prince Edward, The Duke of Kent. Notably, Prince Andrew was absent from the ceremony.
Prince William, who holds the title of Colonel of the Welsh Guards, appeared in full military regalia, while Queen Camilla, as the ceremonial Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, joined him in a horse-drawn carriage. The carriage also included Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, who looked stunning in her green dress representing her role as the ceremonial Colonel of the Irish Guards.
The royal couple’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were also present at the ceremony, drawing adoration from the enthusiastic crowd gathered in Central London. The event showcased more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians.
The Trooping the Color parade at Buckingham Palace concluded with a mesmerizing fly-by by the Royal Air Force, which the members of the Royal Family observed from the public balcony. They delighted the onlookers by waving at them. Notably, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were not in attendance at the festivities.
