Tragic Murder of Cyclist Unveils Shocking Cruelty: Heartbroken Family Shares their Grief

Witnessing a horrifying incident, a retired police chief was fatally struck by a car in a designated bike lane in Las Vegas. The incident, captured on video by the car’s passenger, reveals a crime spree involving stolen cars and hit-and-runs committed by two teenagers. Andreas “Andy” Probst, a 64-year-old retired police chief for the California city of Bell, was hit by a stolen Hyundai Electra driven by Jesus Ayala, with Jzamir Keys as the passenger encouraging Ayala. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision. The crime spree also involved multiple stolen vehicles and intentional collisions. Full details can be found on ABC News.

According to the police, Keys intentionally hit a 72-year-old cyclist earlier that morning, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The victim reported the incident in a 911 call, stating that Keys deliberately ran him over and could have killed him. Approximately an hour later, Ayala, now 18 years old, struck Probst with the stolen vehicle. Ayala was arrested on traffic charges on the same day, while Keys was apprehended on September 19 after a video of the incident circulated at a local high school. The two teenagers now face charges of murder, attempted murder, and battery with a deadly weapon. Ayala is also charged with leaving the scene of a crash and possession of a stolen vehicle, as reported by ABC.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson condemned their actions as “outrageous and intolerable,” announcing additional charges against the pair. If convicted, they will be tried as adults and could face 20 years to life in state prison. It is worth noting that Nevada law prohibits the death penalty for crimes committed by minors. Ayala’s mother expressed her confusion and hope for forgiveness, while the Probst family released a statement expressing their devastation, disbelief, and desire for justice. They described Andy Probst as a unique individual and condemned the cold and callous act that took his life. It should be noted that a juvenile in California is accused of similar crimes.
