Tragic Loss: Former Anaheim Ducks Forward Nic Kerdiles Fatally Injured in Horrific Motorcycle Accident

Nic Kerdiles, the Anaheim Ducks’ first player from Orange County, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 29 years old.

According to Nashville police, Kerdiles ran a stop sign in a residential area early Saturday morning on his Indian Motorcycle, colliding with a BMW SUV on the driver’s side.

In addition to his hockey career, Kerdiles was also known for his appearance on the reality TV show “Chrisley Knows Best” alongside his former fiancée Savannah Chrisley.

Following Kerdiles’ untimely death, Chrisley shared pictures of them together on social media, reminiscing about their time spent on the beach. She wrote, “We loved hard. I can’t wait to ride bikes with you along the beaches of heaven one day.”

Kerdiles and Chrisley began dating in 2017, got engaged in 2019, and ended their relationship in 2020.

The Anaheim Ducks expressed their condolences in a statement on X, stating, “We’re deeply saddened by the news of Nic Kerdiles’ passing. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and loved ones.”

Kerdiles was born on January 11, 1994, in Lewisville, Texas, but later settled in Orange County with his parents, Michel and Nathalie, who had met in France during business school.

His passion for hockey began when he was introduced to roller hockey by a neighbor. After playing roller hockey for a year and a half, Kerdiles transitioned to ice hockey.

In a 2017 interview with the Ducks’ team website, Kerdiles said, “I watched it on TV and loved the game, and I just wanted to keep advancing. I wasn’t the best player, but I worked hard and eventually progressed.”

Kerdiles attended Beckman High School in Irvine for his freshman and sophomore years before moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to play for the U.S. national team development program.

During his time with the national team, Kerdiles scored 16 goals and had 17 assists in 50 games. He was then selected by the Ducks in the second round of the 2012 NHL draft, as the 36th overall pick.

In his college career, Kerdiles played for the University of Wisconsin, scoring 26 goals and assisting on 45 others in 60 games. He was named to the Big Ten Second All-Star Team in the 2013-14 season.

Following his college season, Kerdiles turned pro and played for the Norfolk Admirals, the Ducks’ American Hockey League affiliate. He then joined the San Diego Gulls when the team moved to the AHL’s Pacific Division.

Kerdiles experienced a setback when he suffered a concussion in a rookie game in September 2016. He returned to the ice in January 2017 and made his NHL debut with the Ducks later that month.

After his brief stint in the NHL, Kerdiles was assigned to the Gulls and didn’t play for the Ducks again until October 2017. These two games marked his final appearances in the NHL.

In June 2018, Kerdiles was traded by the Ducks to the Winnipeg Jets for center Chase De Leo. His hockey career came to an end during the 2018-19 season when he played three games for the Manitoba Moose, the Jets’ AHL affiliate.
