Top 7 Electric Razors for Men in 2023

Other Considerations

Panasonic Arc5 (LV67-S), ($152.82)

The Panasonic Arc5 was previously our top choice for the best electric razor for men with coarse hair. However, I recently decided to remove it from the list. While it’s effective for cutting thick and curly hair, its design is similar to other foil shavers and razors. Most similar razors offer contouring and pivoting blade heads, a powerful motor, and various power settings.

If you specifically want to avoid razor bumps, the Bevel Trimmer, which is more similar to the Andis T-Outliner, is a better option. However, it cannot be used in the shower or submerged in water.

If having a wet and dry razor is important to you, then the Panasonic Arc5 would be the better choice. Personally, I’ve used it on my neck and face and found it to be quite good. I did experience a few razor bumps, but they were far less significant compared to other trimmers.

GilletteLabs Heated Razor, ($130)

When you think of electric razors for men, you typically imagine grooming tools with a motor and an oscillating blade. However, the GilletteLabs Heated Razor doesn’t have these features, even though it is an electric razor.

Designed in the form of a traditional multi-blade razor, it offers five blades for a close shave, FlexDisc technology to contour to your face and neck, and most notably, an Intelligent Heat Control System. This system includes a warming bar located directly beneath the five-blade system, providing the sensation of a hot towel with every stroke of the blade.

Although wet shaving with traditional razors is not my preferred method, I thoroughly enjoyed using the GilletteLabs Heated Razor due to its comforting heat. I didn’t include it on this list because if you already use traditional multi-blade razors, chances are you’re satisfied with more affordable options and not specifically seeking an electric version. The GilletteLabs Heated Razor is on the pricier side, but it makes for a wonderful gift or indulgence for those who enjoy wet shaving with traditional razors.

Andis Profoil Lithium Plus, ($55.99)

The Andis Profoil Lithium Plus is a razor you’d typically find in a barbershop, among other professional grooming tools. It’s not a multifunctional grooming tool, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this razor may not be the right choice. However, if you need a strong and reliable razor with one setting for a close shave, it’s an incredibly useful and cost-effective option. I pay close attention to the tools used by barbers, and the Andis Profoil Plus has consistently provided me with extremely close fades and shaves. I’ve achieved equally good results during my own tests at home. The only reason it didn’t make the list is that it lacks multiple functions, which most people prefer for at-home grooming.
