Tom Hanks’ Niece Overwhelmed by Elimination from ‘Claim to Fame’

  • A contestant on the television show “Claim to Fame” experienced a dramatic meltdown upon being eliminated.
  • “Claim to Fame” features celebrity relatives who try to guess each other’s connections to fame.
  • Carly, the contestant in question, admitted to possibly overreacting in the moment.

Carly Reeves, the first contestant to be eliminated from season two of the celebrity relative series “Claim to Fame,” made a memorable exit during Monday’s premiere by having a meltdown following her loss in the competition.

After her elimination, Reeves exclaimed from inside the show house, “I didn’t even get to do any challenges!” She then burst into tears, expressing her belief that she deserved more camera time and a longer stay on the show.

“Claim to Fame,” hosted by the Jonas brothers Kevin and Frankie, showcases the lesser-known relatives of celebrities who try to unravel each other’s connections to fame before they are discovered themselves. Reeves’ downfall began with a small clue in the house—a bench featured in a famous scene from Tom Hanks’ movie “Forrest Gump.” Despite her attempts to distract the other contestants, they eventually realized that Hanks was her uncle.

The elimination did not go over well, and Reeves’ reaction quickly gained attention on Twitter the following day.

After hosts Kevin and Frankie Jonas dismissed the remaining contestants, Reeves continued to express her frustration from inside the house, launching into a rant about the competition.

While climbing the staircase, Reeves shouted, “These clues are so obvious! A bench? That’s the iconic poster of ‘Forrest Gump.’ Are you kidding me?” She then criticized another contestant, Gabriel, stating, “Even Gabriel figured it out, and he’s not even that smart.”

In a post-elimination interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reeves reflected on her outburst and acknowledged that she may have overreacted. She considered her comments about wanting more camera time as “silly.” As for Hanks watching the episode, Reeves expressed mixed feelings.

“I mean, maybe I don’t want him to watch it because I don’t want to embarrass him for any reason,” she said. “I hope I don’t embarrass him, but I don’t think I do.”
