Far-right protesters clash with police before demonstration in the British capital.
Hundreds of thousands have gathered in central London, marching in solidarity with Palestine and calling for a ceasefire in the conflict with Israel.
The “National March for Palestine” is the latest in a series of rallies in London showing support for Palestinians following the recent military actions in the Gaza Strip.
Former British opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn and other high-profile figures participated in the rally, demanding an immediate ceasefire.
Right-wing counter-protesters arrested
Police arrested 82 people during a right-wing counter-protest opposing the pro-Palestinian rally. Tensions led to clashes and disruption near the Cenotaph war memorial and other areas of the city.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan denounced the disorder and criticized the Home Secretary’s comments regarding pro-Palestinian marches, stating that such rhetoric makes the job of the police much harder.
