The president and CEO of the zoo, Bob Chastain, expressed his sadness over the tragic event and mentioned a previous incident in 2021 where another female Siberian tiger named Savelli died due to complications after an artificial insemination procedure. These incidents highlight the fragile state of the Siberian tiger species. With only 350 to 450 tigers remaining in their native habitats, it is crucial to prioritize their conservation efforts.
