They assert that their military stands ready to counter any Chinese threats and has full confidence in safeguarding national security.
Xinhua, another Chinese state media outlet, quoted an anonymous official from China’s Taiwan Work Office. This official alleged that Lai’s trip to the United States was a new provocative move, highlighting collusion between Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party and the United States.
The Associated Press highlighted the statement made by the same unnamed official, calling Lai a “troublemaker who will push Taiwan to the dangerous brink of war.”
