Suspect Remains at Large as Recovered Baby Brings Relief

The search is currently underway on Sunday for a man accused of kidnapping his girlfriend’s 11-month-old son. Fortunately, the baby was found unharmed, but the suspect, Adonis Childress, remains at large. The incident occurred at around 10 a.m. on Saturday in West Hills, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. They have issued an alert seeking the safe return of the baby, Jeremiah Montgomery.

Prior to the kidnapping, there were events that unfolded starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Childress and the baby’s mother engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical attack. According to the police, Childress choked and repeatedly punched the mother, causing her to lose consciousness and breaking her nose.

At 10 a.m., Childress dropped off the injured woman at a hospital in the 7300 block of Medical Center Drive in West Hills. However, he drove away with the baby, the woman’s cell phone, and her car. Despite repeated pleas from the woman and her family, Childress refused to return the child.

The details regarding how and where the baby was found have not been disclosed. It is important to note that Childress was in a dating relationship with the baby’s mother, but he is not the biological father. He is an active gang member and is considered armed and dangerous, according to CHP investigators.

Childress is described as a Black man, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 195 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white tank top, blue shorts, and white socks with black sandals.

If anyone has information regarding Childress’ whereabouts, please contact the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Division at 818-756-4800. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted to LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
