Suspect Arrested after Four Fatalities in Idaho House Shooting

A man, 31 years old, has been apprehended in Idaho following a shooting incident on Father’s Day that resulted in the deaths of four individuals inside a residence in the central part of the state. According to the AP, the police received a 911 call about a shooting at a multiple-residence unit in Kellogg, a rural town located approximately 36 miles east of Coeur d’Alene, at around 7:30pm on Sunday evening. A neighbor informed KXLY that there was an “ongoing dispute between neighbors” at the scene. ABC News also confirms that the police believe there is no further threat to the community. At the moment, there is no additional information available about the victims or the arrested man.

Furthermore, the AP notes that the US experienced several deadly shootings over the Father’s Day weekend. These incidents included the shooting death of a state trooper in Pennsylvania, multiple individuals firing guns into a holiday crowd in Illinois, and gunfire among teenagers partying in Missouri. Mass shootings also occurred in Washington state, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Southern California, and Baltimore. It is important to note that a mass shooting is defined as an incident in which four or more people are killed, excluding the shooter. Daniel Nagin, a professor of public policy and statistics at Carnegie Mellon University, states, “There’s no question there’s been a spike in violence. Some of these cases seem to be just disputes, often among adolescents, and those disputes are played out with firearms, not with fists.” More information can be found here.
