Southern California to experience scorching triple-digit heat wave this week – Orange County Register

Summer has just begun, and Southern California is bracing for another heat wave. Forecasters predict triple-digit temperatures in inland cities this week as a high-pressure system builds over the region. National Weather Service meteorologist Rich Thompson expects temperatures to slowly climb throughout the week, reaching their peak by Thursday or Friday.

Inland Los Angeles County cities like Woodland Hills and Pasadena will experience the brunt of the heat wave, with temperatures starting in the low 80s on Monday and rising to the high 90s and low 100s by Friday. However, coastal communities will be spared from the scorching heat. Early morning fog and temperatures in the mid to high 70s are expected along the beaches throughout the week.

Moving south to Orange County, cities like Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach will also experience cloud coverage. However, temperatures will remain in the mid-70s to low 80s for most of the heat spell.

The Inland Empire will feel the full force of the heat, with some cities already hitting the 90s on Monday. National Weather Service meteorologist Kasey Oswant warns that temperatures will continue to rise throughout the week, potentially reaching triple digits by Thursday in San Bernardino cities like Fontana and Ontario. Similarly, Riverside County cities like Moreno Valley and Corona can expect temperatures in the low 100s by the end of the week.

A heat advisory is in effect from Tuesday to Saturday evening for several Inland Empire cities, while Los Angeles County has a heat advisory extending until Sunday evening. There is a possibility of temperatures cooling down by next Sunday, although it is too early to confirm the end of the heat wave.

Overall, it’s going to be a toasty week in Southern California, with inland areas facing scorching temperatures while coastal regions enjoy milder weather. Stay hydrated and take necessary precautions to beat the heat.
