Shocking Revelation: Social Media Sensation, Ruby Franke of 8 Passengers, Arrested on Child Abuse Charges

Utah parenting coach Ruby Franke, famous for her YouTube channel “8 Passengers,” has been charged with six counts of child abuse, along with her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, also known as “Moms of Truth.” The Washington County Attorney’s Office announced the charges after Franke and Hildebrandt were arrested following a neighbor’s call about a malnourished child with injuries and duct tape around the extremities. Two children were taken to the hospital and four were placed in the care of Utah’s Division of Child and Family Services. The charges allege that Franke and Hildebrandt caused severe physical injury, starvation, and emotional harm to the child victims. Each charge carries a potential prison sentence of one to 15 years and a fine of up to $10,000. Franke and Hildebrandt are set to appear in court on Friday.

Franke has faced controversy and criticism online for her strict parenting style on the 8 Passengers channel. In 2020, a petition was even created to involve child protective services. Reports show that neighbors and Franke’s oldest daughter made multiple calls to authorities over the past four years, including instances of unsupervised children running into the road. Franke’s daughter also claimed that the younger children were left alone for days while Franke was away with Hildebrandt. Despite these allegations, the children were seen inside the home but refused to answer the door when police responded.

Some viewers also reported the Franke couple to authorities when their son claimed to be punished by sleeping on a beanbag. The Frankes stated that it was their son’s choice and that he could return to his bedroom when he changed his behavior. Ruby Franke has been accused of withholding food, neglecting her children, shaming sexual assault victims, and making anti-LGBTQ+ comments. She claims that the clips were taken out of context.

The 8 Passengers YouTube channel was closed last year, and Franke and Hildebrandt announced the formation of ConneXions, a parenting support group offering paid classes and coaching. The change was prompted by the children growing older, and Franke wanted to continue sharing her wisdom. Some critics have equated their message to a cult. Shari Franke, Ruby’s daughter, celebrated her mother’s arrest and shared problematic comments made by her mom on Instagram.

Kevin Franke, Ruby’s husband, is represented by an attorney who maintains that Kevin had no role in the alleged abuse and was not living in the house where it occurred. The attorney explained that Kevin was not aware of any abuse and would have taken action if he had known.
