Emergency responders discovered the lifeless body of Matthew Perry in an outdoor jacuzzi at his residence in Los Angeles. The incident occurred on Saturday.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters were notified and arrived at Perry’s address where they found a bystander already attempting to rescue him. Unfortunately, Perry was pronounced dead upon further examination.
Matthew Perry was 54 years old at the time of his passing.
The circumstances surrounding the actor’s death are currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
While an autopsy has been performed, the medical examiner’s office is awaiting the results of toxicology reports to determine the cause of Perry’s death. These reports can take several weeks to complete.
Based on information from law enforcement sources, foul play is not suspected in Perry’s death.
Perry’s parents, John Bennett Perry and Suzanne Morrison, as well as his step-father, “Dateline” correspondent Keith Morrison, were seen arriving at the actor’s home on Saturday night during the police response.
The family of Matthew Perry released a statement to People magazine expressing their deep sadness over the loss of their beloved son and brother.
The statement went on to describe how Perry brought joy to the world through his acting and friendships, and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from his fans.
