Kinzinger: Hannity’s trust loss leads to family disownment

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) revealed in a recent CNN interview that he faced discord within his own family and lost the trust of Fox News host Sean Hannity after leaving Congress.

Kinzinger shared, “So, I had family that sent a certified letter disowning me. They said I’ve lost the trust of great men like Sean Hannity, which is funny, but they believe that. They said I was a member of the devil’s army.”

The outspoken critic of former President Trump explained that his decision to step away from Congress due to his disagreements with the GOP resulted in numerous death threats aimed at him and his loved ones.

He recounted the horrifying experiences, stating, “You know, we had people that would call and threaten to kill my, at the time, 5-month-old child, or say they wish he would die.”

This anecdote was shared as Kinzinger was discussing his new book, titled “Renegade,” which recently hit the shelves.

Kinzinger also expressed uncertainty when asked if he still considers himself a Republican, noting it as a “tough question.”

“I do, only in that because I don’t wanna give up on that fight. And this country needs two healthy parties, a healthy Democratic Party and a healthy Republican. So, I’m not gonna give up that title,” he declared.

However, he made it clear that if there were a 2024 rematch between President Biden and Trump, he would be voting for Biden. Kinzinger warned of the dangers of another Trump term, describing it as “authoritarianism” and expressing concerns about the potential for a second insurrection similar to the events of January 6, 2021.

“Because in January 6th, we saw the guardrails of democracy held,” Kinzinger pointed out. “The car hit the rails. It kept you on the road. That rail can’t take two hits. And now they know what they’re doing. Now they know where the tricks are in the system.”
