Shocking: Costco Mattress Recall Due to Mold Growth – Learn Why Consumers are Filing Complaints

About 48,000 mattresses sold at Costco are being recalled due to reports of mold growth, according to the Consumer Safety Product Commission.

The mattresses, sold exclusively at Costco stores and on Costco.com, were manufactured by FXI and marketed under the Novaform brand name from January to June of this year. They were available at Costco stores in the San Francisco Bay region and the Northwest, as well as online, with prices ranging from $150 to $750.

The foam inside the mattresses may have been exposed to water during production, leading to mold development. This poses a potential health risk for individuals with mold allergies, compromised immune systems, or damaged lungs. FXI has received 541 reports of mold on the mattresses, as reported by the CPSC.

The recalled mattresses are the Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch and Novaform DreamAway 8-inch. The ComfortGrande has a blue base with “Novaform” printed in white letters, while the DreamAway has a gray base with the same branding.

Costco is reaching out directly to customers who purchased these mattresses to notify them of the recall.

How to Obtain a Refund or Replacement

The CPSC recommends that consumers contact FXI for a full refund or a free replacement mattress, which includes complimentary delivery of the new mattress and the removal of the recalled one.

To initiate the refund or replacement process, consumers can call FXI at (888) 886-2057 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays and speak with a customer service representative. They will need to provide the law tag from their mattress, as mentioned by FXI. The law tag indicates whether the mattress is subject to the recall and was manufactured at FXI’s San Bernardino, California, facility during specific dates. For the ComfortGrande model, the manufacturing period was January 2 to April 30, while for the DreamAway model, it was January 30 to April 30.

FXI advises checking the law tag on the mattress for the manufacturing location and date, as only mattresses produced at their San Bernardino, California factory during specific dates are part of the recall.
