In a sponsored trip by Shein, Carbonari documented her visit to the factory in a post and video on Instagram. However, her followers are questioning her lack of acknowledgment regarding Shein’s labor rights record.
Many pointed out that Shein has been accused of numerous labor rights violations, including poor working conditions and the exploitation of workers.
Some investigations have revealed that Shein employees work long hours under unsafe conditions and are not provided with proper employment contracts.
In addition, Shein has been criticized for falsely claiming to have safe labor practices and using cotton produced in China’s Xinjiang region, where allegations of forced labor and human rights abuses have surfaced.
While Carbonari received support from other influencers who also visited Shein’s factories, the backlash from her followers has caused a slight decline in her Instagram following.
