It was chaotic at Kowloon, a landmark Chinese restaurant north of Boston. One man was seen bleeding, while people screamed in the background to the sound of dance music. Another video captured a woman smashing a glass bottle over a man’s head during a scuffle.
State Police and Saugus police rushed to the scene, but the fight had already been quelled by the time troopers arrived. No arrests were made, but several men who were involved in the melee were detained and questioned.
A witness mentioned that it took police only a few minutes to regain order. The fight started with shouting and shoving, which quickly escalated into a brawl.
Although two individuals sustained injuries, they declined to be taken to the hospital and preferred to seek medical treatment on their own. The incident remains under investigation, and charges may be filed.
“The Kowloon is a family-friendly restaurant; unfortunately, a few unruly patrons ruined a nice evening for many others,” said Saugus Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli. The chairman of the Select Board also stated that appropriate action would be taken after reviewing the police report.
Kowloon’s owner, Bob Wong, emphasized that the restaurant usually has a police detail for crowd control and safety. He expressed gratitude for the many customers who visited the night before Thanksgiving and assured that they are up and running as usual.
