Kody Brown confesses during a confessional on the new episode of TLC’s “Sister Wives” that he has contemplated changing his identity and leaving his ex-wife Christine Brown and estranged second wife Janelle Brown in the wake of their split.
The father of 18 even admits to considering abandoning his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, and their two youngest biological children, despite them being “the only thing that loves me still,” as he shared with a friend on the episode.
In a separate confessional on the same episode, Robyn expresses her devastation if Kody were to leave her.

While Kody’s first wife, Meri Brown, was his only legal wife until September 2014 when they divorced, Kody and Robyn are still legally married. Their marriage allowed Kody to adopt Robyn’s three children from her previous marriage.
Although Kody had been romantically involved with three of his four wives, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn, until around 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic and Kody’s strict safety measures caused a rift between him and his second and third wives, leading to their estrangement.
Christine announced her split from Kody in November 2021, followed by Janelle confirming that she no longer considers herself married in August 2023. Meri announced her departure from the family in January 2023.
