A 30-year-old man from Riverside, Kelvin Trayvone Taylor, has been sentenced to six years in state prison for killing a 22-year-old man during a confrontation in west Riverside. Taylor pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter as part of an agreement with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. In exchange for his admission, prosecutors dropped an assault charge and related sentence-enhancing allegations. The plea deal and sentence were certified by Superior Court Judge John Molloy at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
The victim, Jordan Love, was fatally assaulted by Taylor. The incident occurred on February 8, 2019, in the Casa Blanca area of Riverside, specifically in the 7400 block of El Sol Way near Madison Street. Passers-by discovered Love lying unconscious on the cul-de-sac and called 911. He sustained severe head trauma and was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he ultimately passed away four days later.
Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback stated that investigators identified Taylor as the assailant after collecting evidence and speaking with potential witnesses. Taylor was apprehended without incident on May 1, 2019, on Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley. The specific details of the confrontation between Taylor and Love were not disclosed to the public.
Court records show that Taylor has previous convictions for armed robbery, possession of an assault rifle, and grand theft.
