The US Coast Guard dropped essential supplies like food, water, and a radio for the stranded sailor. He was able to use the radio to communicate that his vessel had become disabled during his voyage, leading to his unfortunate predicament. The man was stranded on the small island of Cay Sal, which measures less than 6 square miles and is located in the Straits of Florida between Cuba and the Bahamas. Fortunately, the man’s distress signals were spotted by Coast Guard aircraft patrolling the area. The Coast Guard successfully rescued him and he has since been transferred to the Royal Bahamas Defense Force in good health.
