Greenwood Mayor Levi Weaver was impeached and removed from office in Missouri after allegedly threatening an alderman with a gun, as reported by FOX 4 Kansas City.
The unanimous vote to remove Mayor Weaver took place at a meeting of the Greenwood Board of Aldermen, lasting over two hours at City Hall.

One of the aldermen, Kyron McClure, was the target of Mayor Weaver’s alleged gun threat.
“It’s disappointing that we had to reach this point,” said Alderman Ryan Murray.
The aldermen previously impeached Weaver in October 2022 for three counts, including brandishing a gun, violating First Amendment rights on the city’s Facebook page, and potential violations of business licensing and health codes in Jackson County.

The board urged Weaver to resign, but he insisted the allegations were false and refused to step down.
Weaver’s attorney, Aaron Racine, stated, “There was no testimony that he ever brandished a weapon or threatened anyone with a weapon. These personal allegations have nothing to do with his role as mayor.”
Racine intends to appeal the decision and hopes a judicial review board will reinstate Weaver.

With the mayor’s seat now vacant, the aldermen will work on appointing a replacement for the next seven months, who will then choose someone to fill an open seat on the board.
