Rep. Rashida Tlaib Raises Concerns About Biden’s Alleged Involvement in Palestinian Crisis, Accuses of ‘Genocide’

Democratic Rep. from Michigan has recently accused President of supporting “the genocide of the Palestinian people.” The allegations were made through a video Tlaib posted on Friday.

The roughly one and a half minute video shared on X showcases footage of protests from various locations including Tlaib’s home state of Michigan, California, New York, and battleground states like Pennsylvania and Ohio. Participants in these protests can be seen waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans like “Free Palestine!”

“Mr. President, the American people are not with you on this one,” Tlaib asserts in the video.

The video concludes with Tlaib stating, “We will remember in 2024,” followed by the phrase “Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people” written in all capital letters.

The White House has chosen not to respond, and Biden’s campaign has not yet provided a comment regarding Tlaib’s accusations.

Tlaib’s video post comes a day after she, as the only Palestinian American in Congress, expressed that Americans do not support funding for war crimes in a statement directly targeting President Biden.

“As the Israeli government carries out ethnic cleansing in Gaza, President Biden is cheering on Netanyahu, whose own citizens are protesting his refusal to support a ceasefire,” Tlaib stated. “We must be laser focused on saving lives, no matter their faith or ethnicity.”

Tlaib, along with other Muslim American leaders in swing states, has been warning Biden about losing support in their communities ahead of the next presidential election due to his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict. The NBC News report highlights the concerns of Muslim voters in swing states.

Last week, Biden stated that the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza needs to increase, echoing Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s call for “humanitarian pauses” to enable the smooth delivery of essential supplies such as food, water, medicine, and other assistance.

Tlaib has been persistently advocating for a cease-fire in the war following Hamas attacks, which involved hostage-taking and caused the death of around 1,400 people in Israel.

Criticizing U.S. funding for the Israeli military, Tlaib argues that the government has been supporting Israel without appropriate consideration for humanitarian aspects. She gave a speech at a rally outside the Capitol on October 18, appealing for a cease-fire.

As per United Nations estimates, more than 1.4 million people have been displaced in Gaza, and Palestinian health officials report over 9,200 fatalities in the territory. These numbers emphasize the scale of the humanitarian crisis.
