“Pogues Frontman Shane MacGowan Saddly Dies at 65”

Shane MacGowan, the lead singer of The Pogues, passed away at the age of 65, merely a week after being discharged from the hospital. His wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, confirmed the news of his death with a moving statement, expressing her deep love for him.
Tributes have poured in from all over, with one coming from Irish premier Leo Varadkar, who wrote about how MacGowan was able to “beautifully capture the Irish experience”.
The news of his passing came just days after he was released from the hospital prior to his upcoming birthday on Christmas Day. On social media, his wife posted an image of him wearing a scarf and hat and expressed her gratitude to the nursing staff for their support.
MacGowan revealed last year that he was diagnosed with encephalitis, a rare and serious condition that causes inflammation of the brain, according to the NHS.
Shane MacGowan, who led The Pogues in the 1980s, was best known for their hit song “Fairytale of New York”.
