Russian President Vladimir Putin Accuses U.S. of Inflaming Middle East

Moscow, Oct 11 (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized the United States for exacerbating tensions in the Middle East by deploying an aircraft carrier group to the region. Putin emphasized the need for compromise solutions and expressed hope that common sense would prevail.

According to Putin, the recent outbreak of violence between Israel and the Palestinians showcases the failure of U.S. policy in the Middle East. He believes that the U.S. has ignored the needs of the Palestinians.

In response to the attack by Hamas militants on Israel over the weekend, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that the U.S. would be moving a carrier strike group, including the USS Gerald R. Ford, closer to Israel.

Speaking at an energy conference in Moscow, Putin criticized this move and questioned its purpose. He wondered if the U.S. intended to bomb Lebanon or if it was trying to intimidate someone. He stressed that such actions only serve to exacerbate the situation and emphasized the need for compromise solutions.

Putin accused Washington of bypassing established processes for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and failing to address fundamental issues. He expressed hope that common sense would prevail instead of baseless accusations against Iran.

The Russian President emphasized that the larger conflict cannot be resolved without addressing crucial matters like the creation of a Palestinian state. He warned that any escalation in the conflict zone could have severe consequences for various sectors, including energy. While energy production may remain unaffected, logistics, insurance, and freight could be impacted, thereby affecting the global energy markets.
