Protests Arise as Independent Truck Operators Seek Contract Renewal with LA City

A group of truckers staged protests at two locations in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, demanding that city officials renew their contracts for the As-Needed Haul Truck Program. Members of the Los Angeles City Contract Truck Association gathered outside City Hall and the city’s Public Works building, with plans to continue protesting outside City Hall from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. until Friday.

“Our focus over the next two days is City Hall,” said Kenyatta Cole, the secretary of LACCTA. “We will have around 100 trucks lined up, making noise to raise awareness.”
