FIRST ON FOX: A freshman House Republican is advocating for age limits for federal elected officials, introducing legislation aimed at bringing new perspectives into Capitol Hill.
Rep. John James, R-Mich., recently introduced a resolution urging lawmakers to amend the Constitution and establish an upper age limit for eligibility to be president, vice president, or a member of Congress.
If passed, the resolution would call on Congress to work on a Constitutional amendment that would prevent individuals who are 75 years of age or older at any point during their term from running for these offices, according to bill text obtained by Fox News Digital.
“The world is not slowing down; it’s becoming faster. The world is not getting safer, it’s getting more dangerous. The world is not getting any younger, and while we have a lower age limit, it only makes sense to have an upper age limit,” James told Fox News Digital in an interview.

This resolution comes at a time when concerns over the health of older senators, such as Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., as well as President Biden, have arisen multiple times throughout the year.
“You can’t watch a video of Feinstein or McConnell or Biden and say that everything is okay,” James stated. “It’s not just us saying it; our adversaries see it too. They see that America has lost its edge.”
