President of the National Association of Realtors Resigns Following Allegations of Sexual Misconduct

The President of the National Association of Realtors has tendered his resignation following allegations of sexual harassment. These allegations were reported by the New York Times and involved several women who worked for the trade group. Realtor Magazine, which is published by the National Association of Realtors (NAR), confirmed that the resignation took place on Monday after the release of the Times’ story. According to the article, three women accused the former executive of inappropriate conduct, including improper touching and sending lewd photos and texts.

Both the NAR and the accused, Kenny Parcell, a real estate agent from Utah, have yet to comment on the situation. However, Parcell defended himself in a letter to NAR board members published by real estate news website RISMedia, stating that he refuted any wrongdoing and felt troubled by attempts to tarnish his character.

In 2021, Parcell was named the President-elect of the NAR, a non-profit real estate organization with substantial assets. The New York Times’ investigation revealed a widespread pattern of sexual harassment and abusive conduct attributed to Parcell, supported by accounts from 29 current and former NAR employees. The article also highlighted a culture of intimidation within the organization that discouraged employees from reporting such behavior.

Tracy Kasper, the new President of the NAR who assumed the position after Parcell’s resignation, pledged to reform the organization’s culture and address the concerns that have been raised. She expressed her apologies and recognized the need to support those who have come forward. Kasper announced the formation of a presidential advisory group to facilitate recommendations for improving employee-member relations and encouraged employees to report any harassment incidents they have experienced.
