The great seal of the United States bears the phrase “E Pluribus Unum,” meaning “out of many, one.” It represents a nation comprised of diverse people with a government elected “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
Since July 4, 1776, the idea of self-governance has been deeply ingrained in the soul of our nation. Our founding fathers risked everything to materialize the radical concept that we have the inherent right to govern ourselves.
I will continue to share South Dakota’s story because it offers hope to the entire country, just as America inspires hope in the world.

Since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, America has symbolized hope itself. Thomas Jefferson referred to America as “the world’s best hope” in his inaugural address, and Abraham Lincoln called it “the last best hope of earth” in a speech to Congress in 1862.

However, today, that hope seems to be fading. The unity of America feels fragile.
In recent years, certain politicians have imposed strict measures, shutting down entire states and deeming businesses non-essential, thus infringing on the individual freedoms of Americans. Across the nation’s schools, young Americans are being taught to be ashamed of our history rather than embracing it with pride.
The fracture in America is being expedited, even instigated, by the radical policies of the Biden administration. President Biden has brought America’s once-thriving economy to its knees, resulting in lowered wages, soaring inflation, and an unprecedented national debt. Our southern border has turned into a battleground under his leadership. Unfortunately, America, the beacon of hope for other nations, appears weakened on the global stage due to a lack of leadership.
My personal goal, and one that I believe every American should share, is to live a life of significance. Every day, I wake up with the determination to safeguard this grand experiment and ensure the preservation of our freedoms for my children and grandchildren.
I will continue to share South Dakota’s story because it embodies hope for our nation, just as America inspires hope for the world.
Today, it is the responsibility of every American to strive to restore this country’s foundations. America has endured because we have never abandoned the ideals upon which we were founded. Throughout history, it has been the duty of every American not to falter in our commitment.

The freedom we enjoy is not guaranteed; it has been fought for by past generations. Our duty is to defend it for future generations.
Over a decade before he became president, Ronald Reagan proclaimed, “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We’ll preserve for our children this, the last great hope of man on earth, or we’ll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.”
Our founders bestowed upon us an extraordinary gift. What truly matters now is how we choose to embrace that gift. We can either disregard it, take it for granted, or utilize it to ensure that America remains the greatest nation for our children, grandchildren, and their descendants.
