Prepare for an Intense Heat Wave in Southern California this Weekend – Orange County Register

Summer may have come to an end, but there is still a chance for another scorching heat wave in Southern California.

After a light drizzle last weekend, temperatures in some parts of the region have already reached the 90s by midweek and are expected to rise even higher over the weekend. As a result, meteorologists are advising residents to take precautions and protect themselves from the heat.

In Los Angeles County, the inland communities can expect temperatures in the mid to high 90s, which is 10-15 degrees above the average for this time of year. Along the coast, temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s, which is 15-20 degrees higher than normal, according to meteorologist Ryan Kittel.

“The coastal area is particularly at risk for heat-related illnesses,” Kittel warned. “We are experiencing extremely high temperatures for this time of year, so it’s important for residents to have a plan to stay cool until Saturday.”

Similar conditions will continue on Saturday, with temperatures slightly increasing, before a small cooling trend starts on Sunday and lasts until Tuesday. Kittel expects temperatures to return to normal in the mid to high 70s during that time.

In Orange County, residents can expect similar high heat conditions with temperatures hovering around the high 80s to low 90s on Friday and Saturday. Moving inland, temperatures will climb to the mid to high 90s, said meteorologist Casey Oswant.

By Sunday, temperatures in Orange County will gradually start to cool down and this trend will continue throughout the week.

In the Inland Empire, cities like Riverside and San Bernardino will also experience the heat, with temperatures reaching the high 90s until Sunday. However, by Monday, temperatures will drop to the high 80s and continue to cool down for the rest of the week.
