Iconic Chicago Bears Legend, Dick Butkus, Sadly Passes Away at Age 80

The Chicago Bears and NFL legend, Dick Butkus, has sadly passed away at the age of 80, according to a statement from his family.

“The Butkus family confirms that football and entertainment legend, Dick Butkus, peacefully passed away in his sleep at his home in Malibu, California,” the statement on X read. “The Butkus family is gathering with Dick’s wife, Helen. They appreciate your prayers and support.”

Butkus, a Chicago native, was a two-time All-American at the University of Illinois. He went on to have an impressive career in the NFL as an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest linebackers in the history of the game and played a significant role in revolutionizing the position.
