Possible Discovery of Sherry-Lehmann’s ‘Wine Caves’ During FBI Investigation

The recent raid by the FBI on a sleepy office complex near New York City has uncovered a surprising possible hiding place for iconic wine shop, Sherry-Lehmann. While FBI agents were already searching the closed shop on the Upper East Side, another team descended upon a tower in Pearl River, NY. Sources suggest that the FBI may be searching for a large stash of valuable wines in an underground, air-conditioned room at Blue Hill Plaza, where computer servers are located.

Local TV station, News 12 Hudson Valley, reported the FBI raid in Rockland County, confirming that it took place at Blue Hill Plaza. Interestingly, Blue Hill Plaza is owned by the same landlord as Sherry-Lehmann’s store on Park Avenue.

While the FBI has not disclosed the reason for the raid, sources close to Sherry-Lehmann point out that Hong Kong-based Glorious Sun Group owns Blue Hill Plaza, as well as the glass-and-steel tower on Park Avenue where the wine shop has been a tenant since 2007.

This coordinated raid is part of an investigation into the disappearance of valuable wines from Sherry-Lehmann, despite the shop being closed. Last August, Sherry-Lehmann co-owners Shyda Gilmer and Kris Green moved a wine-storage service registered as “Wine Caves” from a warehouse in Jamaica Queens. However, they failed to register a new storage facility with the State Liquor Authority (SLA), making their new location illegal.

Furthermore, there is no record of the Wine Caves business at Blue Hill Plaza. Sherry-Lehmann owes Glorious Sun $3.6 million in rent dating back to 2020 and is facing multiple lawsuits from customers and vendors who claim they were not paid.

One client, Mercedes Bass, discovered that some of her bottles had been removed from Wine Caves without her permission and delivered to another customer. Sherry-Lehmann initially claimed it was a mistake and that the wine would be returned, but the Bass family denies ever picking up their collection.

The owners of Sherry-Lehmann, Gilmer and Green, have not responded to requests for comment. They are reportedly being investigated by the FBI, as former employees have been questioned by law enforcement.
