Aug. 9 (UPI) — Amid ongoing discussions about a potential PGA Tour-LIV Golf union, professional golfer Jon Rahm has brought attention to a more peculiar yet reasonable issue – the lack of convenient restroom facilities during tournaments.
Rahm expressed his thoughts during a news conference prior to the 2023 St. Jude Championship in Memphis, when asked about his suggestions for improvements within the PGA Tour.
The PGA Tour has already implemented various changes to its format and prize money as a response to several top players defecting to compete in the Saudi-funded LIV Golf Series.
“Contrary to what many might expect, my priorities are relatively simple,” Rahm stated. “If I were to voice one request, it would be as basic as having porta-potties placed near every hole.”
“I understand this may sound strange, but the reality is that nature calls at unexpected times. I have conveyed this concern to the Tour on numerous occasions. These little improvements would make a significant difference for the players and the Tour as a whole.”
Rahm further emphasized the need for consistency in player food and improved workout facilities.
“We are actively working towards enhancing the overall experience for players,” Rahm affirmed.
Rahm, currently leading the FedEx Cup standings, will commence his first round at the St. Jude Championship alongside Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy at 10:26 a.m. EDT on Thursday at TPC Southwind.
Tournament coverage will be broadcasted on Golf Channel and CBS.
