The map reveals that Nagasaki and Hiroshima in Japan, as well as certain parts of the Middle East, including Iraq and Syria, are hotspots for UFO sightings. This may come as a surprise to UFO enthusiasts who primarily associate sightings with the US. One of the interesting Japanese hotspots is a small community called Iinomachi in Fukushima Prefecture, which has embraced its reputation as a “UFO Town” and has even established an International UFO Lab for research purposes.
In June of this year, the International UFO Lab released six images of “likely UFOs” taken in Kobe and Fukushima, among other regions. These images were selected from a total of 494 reports received from people in Japan and abroad. It should be noted that most of these reports turned out to be of drones, birds, or other mundane objects.
The map and other data have been released in a document from the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which was established in July 2022. The AARO is specifically focused on investigating UFOs and other unidentified anomalous phenomena.
The US government’s decision to release this map and establish a dedicated UFO department reflects a shift towards increased transparency. This is further supported by the recent testimony of former intelligence official David Grusch, who claimed that the Pentagon has been covering up evidence related to extraterrestrials. However, the head of the Pentagon’s UFO office, Sean Kirkpatrick, has dismissed Grusch’s claims as “insulting”.
