Pastor’s Surprising Request Empowers Rehab Patients: Unleashing Unconventional Healing Methods

Prosecutors reveal that a Florida pastor, Robert Dell, who operated a drug recovery program, had a surprising and profitable side business. It is alleged that Dell instructed individuals in his program to steal tools from Home Depot, which he then sold on eBay for personal gain. The Wall Street Journal reports that this illicit operation was uncovered when Home Depot identified two individuals suspected of multiple thefts and turned their information over to law enforcement. Surveillance conducted thereafter showed that these individuals were delivering the stolen tools to Dell’s residence in Sarasota, where he would subsequently sell them through his now-closed Anointed Liquidator account. Prosecutors assert that Dell amassed over $1.5 million from more than 10,000 sales on his eBay account between 2020 and May of this year. Dell has pled not guilty to the charges.

A Home Depot executive emphasizes the importance of having a “fence,” someone who orchestrates successful organized retail-crime organizations. Interestingly, eBay had flagged Dell’s account as suspicious back in 2017, but only took action to shut it down when new evidence emerged. The article suggests that retailers will collaborate more closely with law enforcement and online platforms to better combat such schemes. (Read the full story.)
