A probationer and his accomplice, who have been accused of murdering a 31-year-old resident of Cabazon and have yet to disclose the whereabouts of the victim’s remains, pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder on Monday.
The accused individuals, Richard Eugene Seevers, aged 58 and hailing from Banning, and Frank Edward Mansfield, aged 48 and residing in Cabazon, were apprehended after a comprehensive two-year investigation conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department into the disappearance and death of Dillon Entler.
The defendants appeared jointly before Superior Court Judge Joshlyn Pulliam, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for both individuals on October 5th at the Banning Justice Center.
Currently, both men are being held on a bail amounting to $1 million — Mansfield at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, and Seevers at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brosche stated that Entler was reported missing by his family in August 2021, after he had not been seen for three consecutive days.
Brosche added, “Evidence was obtained that indicated Entler was likely deceased and was a victim of a homicide. The Central Homicide Unit was alerted and commenced the investigation as a no-body homicide case.”
Over the course of the next 24 months, clues were gathered, pointing to Mansfield and Seevers as the alleged culprits responsible for the victim’s disappearance and death. The motive behind the crime has not been revealed.
During the first week of this month, arrest warrants were executed, resulting in the apprehension of both defendants without any resistance.
Despite multiple efforts by law enforcement and volunteers, Entler’s remains have not yet been discovered,” Brosche confirmed.
Court records indicate that Seevers has a previous conviction for child abuse, while Mansfield does not have any documented felony convictions in Riverside County.
