On July 5, 2022, a Beverly Hills man currently facing sex-related charges involving seven women over a span of 13 years has now been charged with murder in the overdose deaths of a model and her friend, who were found outside Southland hospitals last November. The announcement was made by Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón.
David Brian Pearce, a 40-year-old resident of Beverly Hills, was arrested in December of last year but was not immediately charged in the deaths of Christy Giles, a 24-year-old model and aspiring actress, and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, aged 26. However, Pearce has been in jail due to alleged sexual assaults unrelated to the deaths.
Initially, Pearce was charged with crimes against four women, but later, three more women from 2007, 2019, and 2020 were included in the alleged felony crimes.
Pearce is schedule to be arraigned next Monday for the two murder charges, as well as two new felony charges related to the sale, transportation, and offer to sell a controlled substance – fentanyl.
During a press conference, Gascón stated, “I understand that the Arzola and Giles families may not find comfort in this news, but it brings about accountability.”
Pearce’s attorney, Jacob Glucksman, argued, “Similar to the other charges in this case, the evidence for the new counts appears to be very weak, and the D.A. is just trying to find something.”
