Amber Rutter, the Olympic Shotgun champion, thrilled her fans on Monday by announcing her first pregnancy with husband James. Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old shared a beautiful snapshot of the baby scan, radiating joy and excitement.
With a heartwarming photo of herself and James reflected in a mirror, Amber held up the Ultrasound image, symbolizing the union of their love. Alongside the image, she affectionately captioned, “Half of me, half of you. Baby Ruts, coming April 2024.”
Amber, renowned for her expertise in skeet shooting, has achieved remarkable success on the international stage, securing multiple gold medals in prestigious competitions such as the ISSF World Cup series and the inaugural European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Unfortunately, in 2021, Amber’s dream of competing in the Tokyo Olympics was shattered when she tested positive for Coronavirus. Despite being fully prepared and ready to embark on her Olympic journey, fate had other plans. Reflecting on that difficult time, Amber revealed her shock and devastation upon discovering her pregnancy: “I was just in shock when I saw the line on the first test. I’d been doing lateral flow tests twice a day, so it was routine.”
She continued, “I’d been isolating, so hadn’t been out – I’d even had an Ocado delivery for the snacks and toiletries I was going to take with me. I’d been through all the kit, and I was just settling down to watch Love Island… And I saw the faintest of lines. My heart sank. I thought ‘No way, this cannot be happening’ and did another test. And another. And another. I was in complete shock.”
Overwhelmed with emotions, Amber shared her devastation with her coach and sports psychologist, who expressed their empathy and support for her heartbreaking situation. Despite the disappointment, Amber’s journey to motherhood begins, and she is eagerly looking forward to embracing this new chapter in her life.
Amber and James celebrated their marriage with a lavish ceremony in Thailand in February, solidifying their love and commitment to one another.
