New Amazon Echo Frames: Lightweight, Louder, and Shipping Next Week

The Amazon Echo Frames take a unique approach by focusing on integrating the Alexa voice assistant into regular-looking glasses, foregoing the visual augmented reality features found in other “smart glasses.” Now, the third-generation Echo Frames are available for preorder on Amazon, and there’s a $75 discount offered.

According to The Verge’s David Pierce, the new Echo Frames prioritize form as much as function. This latest iteration is lighter, better-balanced, and offers more stylish and colorful options. This marks a significant departure from the first-generation design, which resembled drugstore reading glasses.

Furthermore, the new Echo Frames boast an improved battery life, lasting six hours on a full charge. With redesigned speakers delivering up to “three times more bass” than the previous generation, the new frames also feature a built-in microphone for seamless communication with Alexa.

The third-generation Echo Frames are priced at $269.99, with an introductory $75 discount for those preordering the prescription-ready version. Blue light-blocking Echo Frames have a smaller discount, while the sunglasses are offered at full price. Additionally, the collaboration with Carrera continues, with the third-generation model available for preorder.

The Echo frames come in five different styles, including blue round, black rectangle, black square, brown cat eye, and grey rectangle. If you order the prescription-ready or blue light-filtering versions, they can be outfitted with prescription lenses by your optician. However, this does not apply to the Echo Frames sunglasses.
