A local assistance center will be opening this week to provide support to residents and businesses affected by Tropical Storm Hilary, according to a statement issued by Fourth District Supervisor V. Manuel Perez on Sunday.
The center, located at the Cathedral City Library on Date Palm Drive, will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Wednesday through Friday. It aims to assist individuals in connecting with various agencies that are actively working towards the recovery of the Coachella Valley.
Perez emphasized the wide-ranging impact of Hilary on the entire valley, including all cities and unincorporated areas, which is why the center is open to all residents and businesses. The collaboration between the Riverside County Emergency Management Department, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, county departments, and local, state, and federal agencies highlights the unified effort to aid the community.
The assistance center will provide access to a range of services, including housing, behavioral health, social services, CalFresh, and assistance with reporting damages. Agencies such as Riverside University Health System Public Health, Riverside County Office on Aging, Riverside County Assessor County Clerk Recorder, and Riverside County Department of Public Social Services are expected to be available at the center.
Additional agencies like the California Department of Motor Vehicles, California Department of Housing and Community Development, Social Security Administration, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Team Rubicon, FIND Food Bank, United Policy Holder, and TODEC will also be present to offer their support.
