If you’re looking for a company that’s fully immersed in the ChatGPT/AI era, look no further than Humane. This secretive startup, founded by a powerhouse team of ex-Apple employees, including co-founders Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, has been teasing its first-ever consumer product for the past four years. Tomorrow, the company is finally unveiling the “AI Pin.”

While details about the AI Pin have been scarce, documents obtained by The Verge shed some light on the product. The AI Pin is expected to cost $699, slightly less than high-end smartphones, and will require a $24 monthly “Humane Subscription” to access cellular data, cloud storage, and its voice assistant powered by AI models from Microsoft and OpenAI.
During a TED Talk, Imran Chaudri showcased the AI Pin’s capabilities, such as projecting caller ID, summarizing emails, and identifying food items. With GPT-4 at its core, the device is set to offer a seamless experience by leveraging AI tools throughout the day.
The Verge also reveals that the AI Pin’s operating system will be called Cosmos, and the device will come with two magnetic clips that double as battery packs, allowing it to remain attached to clothing or surfaces. Other leaked details include a built-in “personic speaker,” Bluetooth connectivity, a “Trust Light” for indicating audio or video recording, and a touchpad for physical inputs.
