NASCAR Announces Addition of Mexico Series Race to Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum
NASCAR has exciting news for fans and the sport as they confirm the inclusion of a NASCAR Mexico Series race in the third-annual Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum event next year. This race will take place on February 4, 2024, preceding the season-opening exhibition featuring the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series.
Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s senior vice president for racing development and strategy, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This is a tremendous win for our fans and our sport. Not only will the fans see the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series in action, but they will also witness the talent and skill that the NASCAR Mexico Series brings. It’s the perfect way to kick off our 2024 season.”
The Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum has been NASCAR’s season opener for the past two years. In 2022, Joey Logano emerged as the inaugural event winner, followed by Martin Truex Jr. winning the trophy in February 2023.
Jimmy Morales, president and general manager of the NASCAR Mexico Series, expressed his delight, saying, “This is an incredible honor for the NASCAR Mexico Series and its drivers. Our series is known for its intense competition, and I am confident that our drivers will strive to be the first Mexican driver to win at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This race will be etched in our memories forever.”
The NASCAR Mexico Series takes place on tracks across nine major cities in Mexico.
The list of NASCAR Mexico Series drivers participating in the Coliseum race on February 4 will be revealed at a later date, along with the full schedule of racing and entertainment for the day.
