Moreno Valley Resident to Face Trial for Robbery Offenses.

A suspect accused of robbing a group of people gathered in a Moreno Valley park on Halloween night in 2022 has been held to answer on multiple robbery charges, except for one.

Gary Arthur Gonzales, a 23-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was apprehended on October 31, 2022, alongside his alleged accomplice, 36-year-old Gilbert Anthony Gonzales, also from Moreno Valley.

Gonzales faces eight counts of robbery and has been held to answer on all but one of the charges. His post-preliminary hearing arraignment is scheduled for September 1, according to court records.

According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Robert Martinez, the two suspects confronted a group of eight people socializing under a gazebo in Celebration Park on Morgan Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. on October 31.

“One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the group, demanding their property and stealing multiple items,” Martinez stated.

After the incident, the suspects immediately fled the scene while the victims, who were unharmed, alerted law enforcement by calling 911.

Despite an extensive search by patrol deputies, the bandits were not located in the area.

Martinez explained that detectives eventually gathered leads implicating Gonzalez and his friend as the alleged perpetrators, leading to their arrest without any resistance in the 14000 block of Province Circle on Thursday.

It is worth noting that Gonzalez has no previous felony or misdemeanor convictions on record in Riverside County.
