Months after Adam Rich’s death, his cause of death has finally been revealed.

Former child star Adam Rich, famous for his role on “Eight Is Enough,” tragically passed away in January at the age of 54. TMZ reported that the cause of death was an accidental fentanyl overdose. Along with fentanyl, there were also non-toxic levels of alcohol and lorazepam (the generic version of Ativan) found in his system, as stated in the autopsy report obtained by the LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner. The Post has reached out to representatives for Rich and the medical examiner for further comments on this matter. Rich was discovered deceased in his Los Angeles home on January 8. Authorities noticed a white powder at the scene and suspected a possible overdose, though foul play was ruled out by the police. The autopsy report indicated that his body was in a “state of mild decomposition.”

During his career, Rich played the role of Nicholas Bradford, the youngest son in the Bradford family, on “Eight Is Enough” from 1977 to 1981. He also had credits in “Code Red” (1981) and “Dungeons & Dragons” (1983). However, Rich largely retired from acting in the 1980s due to his aversion to the spotlight. It is known that he had a troubled past with drug abuse.

Rich’s battle with drugs was evident when he was arrested in 1991 for allegedly concealing a drug-filled syringe while receiving treatment for a dislocated shoulder at an LA hospital. He faced legal consequences again in 2002 when he was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Rich had sought rehabilitation for his drug addiction on multiple occasions.

Adam Rich’s untimely death serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles many child stars face in navigating fame and the pressures that come with it. It is a tragedy that highlights the importance of mental health and support systems for individuals in the entertainment industry.
