“Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning” Exceeds $80M in Opening Five-day Run

As anticipated, “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” has claimed the top spot on the weekend box office chart. However, its domestic gross of $80 million over a five-day period falls slightly below industry expectations, as estimated on Sunday.

The latest installment of Tom Cruise’s long-running action franchise, which first debuted in 1996, opened on Wednesday to get a head start on the weekend competition. The film now aims to rely on foreign markets to help recoup its substantial budget, estimated at around $290 million by multiple reports.

In that regard, it has made a promising start, with an estimated international gross of $155 million from Friday to Sunday, surpassing all other films.
