Miley Cyrus reveals that she managed to convince her late grandmother to unknowingly bake weed brownies with Snoop Dogg for a skit at the 2015 VMAs.
In a clip from her new TikTok series inspired by her latest single, “Used to Be Young,” Cyrus shares a humorous story about a skit that aired during the 2015 VMAs.
“When I was hosting the VMAs, I had a scene that I personally wrote because I wanted a few specific things in the show,” says Cyrus in the clip.
Her wish list for the show included The Flaming Lips, drag queens, her grandma, and her pig.
“Snoop Dogg was the perfect connection,” Cyrus adds as she explains why she cast the rapper in her VMA skit.
In the sketch, Cyrus appears to get high from the weed brownies her grandma made with Snoop. Her staged hallucination involves the rapper transforming into Cyrus’ talking pet pig.
“My grandma was innocently baking cookies, not realizing they were actually edibles,” Cyrus confesses. “RIP, she’ll never know.”
Cyrus’ grandmother passed away in August 2020.
In the TikTok clip, Cyrus’ mom, Tish, chimes in to share what it was like driving Cyrus’ grandma to the set that day.
“On the way there, they gave her an apron. She looks at it and says, ‘Why does this say ‘Mary Jane’? My name’s not Mary Jane!'” Tish recalls. “I had no idea, Mom,” she responds to her confused grandma.
