Miley Cyrus shares that her father, Billie Ray Cyrus, and she have had divergent experiences with fame, shaped by their respective upbringings.

In a compelling TikTok series inspired by her latest single “Used to Be Young,” Cyrus provides insights into her relationship with her father, who achieved the top spot on the “Top 100 Country Songs” chart in 1992, the year of her birth.

“My dad had a completely different upbringing from me. This disparity is what makes our relationship with fame and success so distinct,” the singer expressed in the video. “The emotional impact of being adored by a large audience affected him in ways I cannot comprehend.”

The former Disney Channel star of “Hannah Montana” further elaborated, stating that she has always been treated like a star, while for her father, fame represents healing a childhood wound.

“It evokes strong emotions in me,” Cyrus added.

The 30-year-old artist also reflected on how her father influenced her view of music.

“I have countless cherished memories of singing with my dad, absorbing his knowledge, and seeing how he used his voice as an instrument,” Cyrus shared. “Undoubtedly, my dad’s vocal talent was underappreciated.”

In another clip, Cyrus watches an old video where Billie Ray discusses her as a child.

“When I discovered that I was going to have a little girl, I strongly felt that it was her destiny to bring hope to the world,” her father expressed. “She loves to dance, and the more people applaud her, the more she dances.”

At birth, her parents named her Destiny Hope, which she later legally changed to Miley in 2008.

In response to her father’s sentiments, Cyrus expressed gratitude that his premonitions for her life came true.

“I’m immensely thankful that those hopes were projected into the universe before I could even comprehend their meaning,” she added. “I appreciate that this positive energy was attached to my existence, and it manifested in reality.”

Cyrus’ video series comes amidst speculation of a familial rift following her parents’ separation last year. Notably, her siblings Noah and Braison were absent from their mother Tish’s wedding to Dominic Purcell over the weekend.
