Memorial Ceremony: Honoring Fallen Sheriff’s Deputy in Palmdale this Thursday

Funeral services for the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, who was tragically killed in his patrol vehicle near the Palmdale sheriff’s station, will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on Thursday. Ryan Clinkunbroomer, a third-generation deputy who was recently engaged, will be laid to rest in a private ceremony after a Mass led by Archbishop José Gomez.

Law enforcement personnel, including Sheriff Robert Luna, are expected to gather at the cathedral at 9:30 a.m. to pay their respects to Clinkunbroomer.

The speakers at the service will include Luna, fellow deputies Zachary Corrales, Zachary Gregg, and Andrew De La Rosa, Sheriff’s Captain Josh Bardon, Clinkunbroomer’s fiancee Brittany Lindsey, and the slain deputy’s father Michael Clinkunbroomer.

At a news conference, Lindsey, who was engaged to Clinkunbroomer just four days before his untimely death, expressed her love for him and their plans for the future. She described him as the best person she had ever met, and she spoke of their excitement to start their lives together.

Clinkunbroomer was shot on September 16 while sitting in his patrol car at a traffic light near the station. Surveillance footage showed a dark-colored sedan pulling up behind his vehicle and then driving away after a brief pause. After the shooting, a good Samaritan provided aid, and the deputy was rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where he sadly passed away.

The alleged killer, Kevin Eduardo Cataneo Salazar, was arrested two days after the incident following a standoff at his family’s home. He has been charged with murder and has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
